Manic Monday

Today is just another “Manic Monday” … it really is! I woke up this morning and thought, “God, I just want another hour or 5 to sleep – please.” And once again, he didn’t come through. The ring on my snoozer went off again and I was reminded that I’m already 10 minutes late and I HAVE to get up or the dog will pee on the carpet, lunches won’t be made, no one will get breakfast and everyone will be unhappy. So, I rushed my shower and didn’t style my hair and got everything I needed to do – minus feeling terrific.

This is my last week at my job. I’m taking on another one that should be VERY exciting. I’m looking forward to it! Wish me luck… I hope your Monday was better than mine!

New York New York

In December I’m heading to NYC for the first time! I’ve been to some of the largest cities in the world but have neglected the Big Apple due to traffic and timing. We usually go around NYC to avoid traffic delays while driving to New Hampshire. The trip is a new family right of passage. My hubby’s mother has invited me to be her “daughter” and we’re meeting other ladies from the family there for a weekend of shopping, sight-seeing and fun. I’m looking forward to it, especially at Christmas time. But, I have to have the perfect wine color winter jacket. I live in the South and it’s tough to find fashionable winter jackets, so I’ve already started looking online. And even though we don’t have two pennys to rub together right now, I want to save up a bit of change to purchase a fabulous winter jacket for our trip to the big city! Help me out! Here are several jackets I found…The jury is out though.

There is something I LOVE about this gray one…

Any suggestions?

Beds Galore

Do you know how many bed designs exist in the world? Me either … BUT we’ve looked at many of them! Hubby and I have been trying to decide on a design for our new king size bed. We both don’t want a huge attraction but rather something that has a lower profile but looks funky and asian-design-like. So, we finally found one and the price is pretty good. Here it is…

And the stuff that goes with it …

Shades of Green

I’ve never LOVED the color green. It’s always been one of those colors I can’t wear so I’ve always stayed away from it. Recently though, as I was thinking about colors to paint my foyer in my house, I thought, “Green would be great!” On Friday afternoon I went to Lowe’s to take a look at all of the shades of green I could find. I went armed with several swatches…

When I got to the store, I couldn’t believe how many shades of green confronted me. I finally settled on “Pear” and bought everything we needed. When I got home I walked in with two gallon cans of paint and my hubby said, “Ohhh no – what are we doing this weekend.” I exclaimed, “Painting baby!” And the look of dread washed over his face. Haha… You see, he had a horrible painting accident before I met him. As a bachelor and after buying a little town house, he and his roomy decided to paint the walls red. If you’ve ever tried to paint anything red, you know what happened. Yes, it looked horrible. Not to mention, the sockets were pink and the ceiling had red accent marks (on accident). Fast forward to 2 years ago and when I first entered the quaint little town house I was awe struck by the room. Talk about faux finish – WOW – it was awful. So, needless to say, he was scared to death. THAT’S why I couldn’t tell him about my evil plans prior to showing up with the paint. He would have insisted on NOT doing it. But after I spent the money – TOO LATE!

Anyway – I love how it came out. It looks professionally done. Hubby taped the walls and corners and everything. He did a fantastic job! These photos suck, we took the pictures with a camera phone. Enjoy!

New Opportunities

Last week I quit my job. It was a stressful decision but I decided to accept a position with an agency. I’ve never worked for an agency before so the decision was especially tough. I’m not sure about billing hours or making nice with my staff and clients a like but it should be a great experience. I love my current job but I wasn’t being utilized to my full potential. Honestly, I was bored to DEATH. It was nice when I was planning my wedding, but now … not so much. In addition, there just wasn’t enough job stability for me. I’m all about change but not when I’m not prepared!

So, on the 19th, I start a new phase! I’m excited about it but also a bit scared and worried. We’ll see how it goes… Wish me luck!
